about us
With 30 years in the visual effects industry, Yanick Wilisky has evolved from animator to VFX Supervisor, Producer, and Executive Producer, playing a key role in shaping some of the industry’s most groundbreaking projects.
His journey began in the mid-’90s, working as an animator in Paris and Vancouver, specializing in 2D clean-up, CG, and stop-motion animation. He later returned to Quebec to join Hybride, where he worked as a CG Supervisor on films like The Faculty, Sin City, and 300. His deep technical expertise and leadership led him to transition into Visual Effects Supervision. He then founded Modus FX, growing it into a 130+ artist studio delivering high-end VFX for major productions.
Yanick later rejoined Hybride, where he contributed to Arrival, Kong: Skull Island, and several Star Wars titles, while also playing a key role in the first season of The Mandalorian. During this time, he led the integration of data analysis tools to optimize operational and financial performance, significantly improving efficiency at a high level.
Before founding Entropy Group, Yanick spearheaded an emerging technology and machine learning skunkworks team at Crafty Apes in Los Angeles, focusing on the future of automation and AI in VFX. This deep dive into next-generation production tools and data-driven workflows reinforced his belief that the industry is at a turning point—one that demands a new approach to visual effects.
With this vision, Yanick built Entropy Group, a studio designed from the ground up to embrace the rapidly evolving landscape of VFX technology. By combining innovation, speed, and flexibility, he ensures that Entropy Group stays ahead of the curve, tackling the global challenges of tomorrow’s visual effects industry with cutting-edge tools and a forward-thinking production philosophy.
